Salut !

Greetings from a sunny Paris where the Olympics are in full swing!

As most of us, I haven’t still gotten over how incredible CĂ©line Dion’s performance was in the opening ceremony. It was just legendary, and the most perfect ending for the night and the start for the unbelievable athletic performances we have the chance to witness.

Over the last couple of days I’ve been in awe of Simone Biles’ record-breaking and revolutionary performances in gymnastics. It’s just crazy how high she can jump and the level of difficulty she is able to maintain. Most importantly, her performances look effortless as she is smiling and clearly enjoying herself despite the pressure she must feel as the world is scrutinizing her every move. She is just such an inspiring and beautiful 142 cm powerhouse. All I can say is: kudos to her!😀

While it has been great to watch snippets of all kinds of sports, I’ve watched tennis the most. Like I mentioned last week, I saw Djokovic play live last Saturday on the Court Philippe-Chatrier at Roland Garros, and he won the match! I also saw two other matches and enjoyed once again the roaring sound of the crowd cheering.đŸŸïž

Unfortunately Rafael Nadal got eliminated quite early on because he wasn’t yet at the level of being able to compete with the best players of the world. But it was still just amazing to watch him play after all the injuries he’s had, and especially to see him play doubles with Carlos Alcaraz for a couple of matches. So now all that’s left to do is cheer Alcaraz to the end towards the Olympic Gold! (I know he can’t hear me say ”Vamos!” at home for him when he wins a great point, but at least it’s a fun activity for me.😂)

When I think of all of these athletes and performances, there are so many lessons we can learn from them. I’ll talk about my thoughts on it a bit more in next week’s letter, but for now I’d just like say:

Let’s be as passionate as Rafa Nadal, let’s dream as big as Carlitos Alcaraz, let’s dive into our dreams as effortlessly and fearlessly as divers, and most importantly, let’s smile with all our hearts like Simone Biles!

Have a stylish week full of sports!

Bisous,

Elle

  • Over the last few weeks I've been listening to Barbra Streisand's autobiography My Name is Barbra (2023), which is narrated by the legend herself, and it's so inspiring to hear her thoughts on her music and her creative work overall. Other than the fact that it's great to just hear her talk about anything, listening to the book has felt almost like time travel as she describes the world in which she had her first successes in her career. I loved hearing especially about the making of her television specials in the 60's which are some of my favorite things that Barbra has ever done.
  • I think Jerry Seinfeld is funny, and this video of him was also funny. If you like him, you'll probably also find it funny. That's all that I can say for now to convince you to watch it.đŸ„ž
